1950–90 Austria, Germany
1969–73 Physics and Mathematics at the University of Vienna. 1972–75 Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna at the department of sculpture, masterclass Fritz Wotruba. Lectures in biology, most notably with the Nobel laureate Konrad Lorenz, were formative throughout his life. 1972 founded the Student Theater Vienna. 1975–78 Abendspielleiter at the Vienna State Opera; assistant to Karajan, Zeffirelli et al. 1975 married his best friend, the mother of his two children. 1979–81 designed and directed plays in Augsburg and Münster, Germany. 1982–85 studies in anatomy at the Department of Medicine at the University of Vienna; 1985–90 art history and philosophy at the University of Vienna.

1990–98 New York City
Worked as stage designer at La MaMa E.T.C. with Tom O’Horgan and at the Theater for the New City with Anohni; 1995 founded the One Night Stand Theater. Exhibitions of his paintings at the Cast Iron Gallery and various other locations in NYC. Regular vipassana retreats at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts.

1998–2000 Thailand
Lived in a hut in the jungle in the province of Ubon Ratchathani. Learned to speak, read and write Thai. Studies and first experiments with permacultural methods. Continued vipassana retreats in various Thai temples. Painting and drawing.

2000–02 Cambodia
Studied traditional Thai art with the former court painter of the King of Thailand in Angkor Wat.

2002–10 Thailand
Wrote a book and a play about the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Indian epic Ramayana; developed a concept about the uncensored Magic Flute and lectured about it on a trip to Vienna; 2004–08 online studies in soil biology and reforesting; several theoretical and practical courses in permaculture. 2008–10 reforested 26 hectares of wasteland in the province of Chaiyaphum with mixed success.

2010–12 Bali
Painting. Script writing for Orlando Bassi of the Movie Studio Bali. Editing workshop with Shelley Kenigsberg; wrote an autobiographical novel. Continued studies in reforesting and permaculture.

2012–14 Sri Lanka
Courses and certificates in soil biology and microscopy with soil pioneer Elaine Ingham. Getting stuck for 40 hours in the Sinharaja National Park became a life-changing experience.

2015–24 Costa Rica
2015 Permacultural design course and teacher certificate with Scott Pittman; 2016–17 studied systems theory with Fritjof Capra. 2016–25 established the Refugio Tinti, a conservation project successfully converting 24 hectares of heavily degraded wetland into a flourishing wildlife sanctuary and permacultural model farm (refugiotinti.com).

2024 Cancer. Return to Vienna. 2025 Full recovery. Distilling now all his life’s experiences into sculpting. Lives and works in Vienna.
